NewYork, May 5th 1895.

 

hot wave is coming from the west. I work all afternoon and ev’g. Theodore Sutro calls in evg as to Albert J. Weber affair, J. O. Toussant +wife called in afternoon. North Beach said to have been quite crowded with People from NewYork and Brooklyn today. In evg

May 6th

I. Keller, Dr. Senner, Dr. Heidenfeldt, Carl Hutter, Mr. Halm, Dr. Arendarius called and we appointed a Committee to confer with 19th Ward School Verein. I had an awful busy day

May7th Tuesday.

Again fine sunny day. Harry D. Low for me went to Boston last night to Alex Steinert and United States Trust Comp Get up early, walk better on crutches but left knee, outer ligament still hurts me. Etelka Utassi buys 4 Astoria H. Co. Bonds at $4000 dated from May 1st 1895. Marc A. Blumenberg and his lawyer Lellmann call, show me retraction of Blumenberg as agreed upon by the lawyers. Mrs. Jeanne Franko also called, also Chas. A. Kittle getting $500 on account of Mortgage loan I granted to him on his farm. Harry D. Low wires that he succeeded in every respect at Boston.

At 1.15. P.M. after getting down stairs with difficulty, drive to Rapid Transit Session, walk on Crutches, we thoroughly prepare report to Common Council, Chas. T. Harvey also speaks to the Commission on his Cable scheme.  I arrive home at near 6 P.M. Yesterday Carl Vogt, the great scientist in Geneva died, and also yesterday Dr. Emil Noeggerath. the Misses Sutro sail to Europe tomorrow

May 8th Wed.

Lovely warm day, am almost hounded to death, many people calling & taking my time. Marc A. Blumenberg calls, overjoyed at the settlement of Steinerts libel suit agt him. Mrs. Grafstrom, Mrs. Ida Lohmann, Otto Sutro called also Chas. H. St who left by 4 P.M. train for Chicago. Kübler also calls with nearly perfected plans for building an extension to Daimler Motor Building at Steinway. I delivered Steinert releases to Marc A. Blumenberg, and mailed latters check for $1850 to Steinert for his lawyer Beach. Blumenberg also goes
