New York, July 6th 1874.

July 6th Monday.

Splendid cool day, introduce Wehrle at Bk of the Metropolis, close assignment of Mortgage of $28.453.74/100 to Continental Ins. Co by Mary Emma Wyckoff, at 3 P.M. to Schuetzenpark, about 15 members of the L.K. there, we amuse ourselves splendidly, home at 10½ PM

July 7th Tuesday.

Take dinner at Zieglers, splendid weather take supper at German Club house 24th street, make acquaintance of Mr. Jay and Schwendler, afterwards at L.K. Paurs farewell for Germany

July 8th Wed.

Again fine splendid day, but gradually growing very hot 90 degrees & over. I am down town, swear to affidavit for Jos. Gould before British Consul, also before Wm A. Cook, 120 Bdway to affidavit made in the case of Weiss vs. Whittemore & Stephens. Buy Straw hat of Ernenwein. At home for supper & evening, it is intensely hot, I can barely sleep at night

July 9th Thursday.

Agricol Paur sails for Germany in Steamer Holsatia, in eveg try sunlights in Steinway Hall find that light is far more powerful without the prisms than with the same. Reck, Tretbar, Wohlers & I play Kreuz Marriage in our office

July 10th Friday,

at noon eat dinner with Albert at Zieglers drive to farm with him, it is awful hot, Dr. Gardner and I play Euchre with Titus, Dr. G. beats all of us Eat supper at Zieglers, Henry Ziegler H. Steinway and I play solo 60 all evening, I beat them badly
