Beer and Brewing

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on beer, a vibrant sector of the American economy and beloved thread in our history and culture. Of the nation’s 8,000 breweries, the overwhelming majority are small businesses. Breweries rely on the sociability of customers gathering in person, but the need for Americans to socially distance has emptied taprooms and posed enormous challenges to growers, suppliers, brewers, distributors, and retailers alike. Industry members have been working tirelessly to adapt to these unforeseen and rapidly changing conditions. Consumers have responded in creative ways to support the breweries they love.
