A 1.5 hour commute to work to no commute

Before the pandemic hit, I used to wake up most mornings at 4:00am to leave my house at 4:45am to catch the Virginia Railway Express. I’d get into work in Crystal City around 6:15am. I’d work my day and then get back home around 5:30pm. Once we were on lockdown, my job went to 100% telework. I was able to save a few hours of commuting and still start my day at the same time. My children (kindergarten and 3rd grade when the pandemic began) also began 100% virtual learning. We have been navigating working from home and doing school work from home ever since. It’s been extremely tough to juggle but we are doing it the best we can. Some days are better than others. I know it will definitely be something we talk about when they are older.
