Hi Mom

I’m a ceramic artist and made this 13 inch thrown earthenware platter with maiolica hand-painted decoration last fall.  I've made several other pandemic-related works this last year, but this one is my current favorite.

In my regular work, I make historically inspired traditional pottery based on styles of the 16th to 19th centuries in Europe and America.  The idea for this plate really seemed to be there before I started on it - all I needed to do was simply transcribe the idea onto the plate.
