Love in the time of COVID

My wife gave birth to our first child in April of 2020. He was born 2 months premature at just 3lbs and spent 50 days in the NICU at INOVA in Fairfax, VA.

My wife was high risk from day one of being pregnant and he was also an IVF baby. He was the second embryo transferred after our first failed to take last year. He's our miracle baby and he was born fighting for his life with a global pandemic ramping up outside. My wife and I stayed by his bedside day and night until we could bring him home. My wife and I were the only ones allowed to see him and we took every precaution we could to ensure his safety from COVID-19.

2020 brought a lot of heartache for a lot of people but it brought our baby boy into this world and we're extremely thankful for it. We're forever grateful for the men and women that risked their lives coming to work everyday to tend to our baby so that he could come home as quick as he did. He's safe, loved, and thriving at home now but he'll always have his friends and family in the NICU. On his final night at the NICU, we bought and brought his other family some dinner.
