Shop locally, tip generously, do what you can

San Francisco shut down in mid-March. I was very fortunate to be able to work from home. I live in the Bernal Heights neighborhood. Cortland Ave is our shopping street. We became very worried that our coffee shops and restaurants would go out of business. I realized there was little I could do. I decided to patronize our local shops and tip generously (e.g. $5 for a $5 latte). At the same time, we had a presidential election and I donated money and wrote postcards to likely voters. I felt a real need to try to build community locally as well as participate nationally. I got a garbage can on wheels, and a trash picker and started picking up trash in my neighborhood.
