Vaccinating is a Privilege
Administering COVID-19 vaccines is a privilege and it is filled with emotions.
Patients feelings range from happiness and joy (getting the vaccine) to fear and anxiety (being around people for the first time while the pandemic still rages on) to frustration (they are getting the vaccine when their family member can’t get it).
At each vaccination clinic, I find myself choking back tears when someone thanks me for all that healthcare workers have been doing and going through to care for the community through the pandemic. I reassure them that while it has been a very challenging time and we are hoping it will be over soon.
On a personal note, I had the privilege of vaccinating my husband for both of his doses when it was his turn. It was an amazing feeling when we both were fully vaccinated.
