Visual Description | Clara Barton’s Red Cross ambulance
Clara Barton’s Red Cross ambulance is the landmark object located on the third floor in the east wing. It is oriented so that the front end of the wagon faces to the left. The wagon has a green painted wooden bed and a stained and discolored beige canvas top. It has two smaller wooden front wheels and two larger rear wheels that are reinforced with iron. The big wheels each have 16 spokes while the small wheels have 14 spokes. The side of the wagon is divided into six square panels. The second square from the left has a cross painted in red on a white background, representing the symbol of the American Red Cross. In the third square, directly to the right of the previous square, the yellow letters “U.S.” are painted on the side of the wagon. There are also four rectangular vents along the side.
