and Riekchen Kreischer & Alice Ellis, at 11 P.M. (after I played Skat with Chas. St. and Richd Ranft jr. & won 19 Cts) we all sit down, eat, I make a speech & in drinking to good luck for all of us, and remembering the members of the family now in Europe, we pass into the new year from 1880. in which I have personally had much trouble and grief through the strikes in the spring and my sickness which was so long protracted, but also brought me a good honest and loving wife, and my darling children a new good mother. Remain up til 2½ A.M. + then retire
