am dreadfully overworked, but business has taken a decided turn for the better both wholesale + retail. Henriette Balck, E. Schilling Mrs. Love, Mrs. Walter_Franko, B. Newport + ohers call, also Mary Melville, Mrs. Laura Steins and daughter, Fl. Terrel, and many others are not recd by me. Get off a lot of letters. Drive home with L. v. Bernuth, work home in evg. Am constantly receiving letters from all over the Country as to horseless Carriages and the press all over the country publish articles mostly mentioning my name. Dr. Grafstrom at 10 P.M. rubs salycilic lotion into my knees and feet, sleep well |

Sept 7th sat. |
Cool windy day, at 9 A.M. with Kübler +Capt. Easton looking up a small harbor behind front bulkhead. Stop at Astoria Veneer Mills +Oakes factory. Smith +Burden call, as to their business troubles, and Oakes calls about damaging gossip about his wife, started by Henry P. Titus whom he wants to call to account. I write a letter of 4 pages to Henry W. Crawford of Smith+Nixon, pitching into them. At 4 P.M. with my Grandson “Bum” to Daimler Motor Company, he claims that the whole establishment belongs to him. Meet Wm. H. Williams who is intoxicated. Meet also Mr. Springer our Enginer, and we consult with Kübler, and builder Erda, as to Rainwater tank, sewer pipes +c. It commences to rain and we drive home. Receive heavy mail, letter from Eshelby, trade booming in England, letter from Holwede as to “Neubau” on v. Würzen property, and a charming letter from Henry Ziegler from Stuttgart-Frankfurt |

Beautiful day. Can hadly do any work as Kübler, Mrs. Maurer Walter J. + Walter C. Foster, Cassebeer and Rudolph v.Bernuth call and detain me. Yesterday at Daimler Motor Comp. weighed myself in Alpaca Coat without hat, weigh 204 #s have therefore just lost 4 #s. in two weeks. Bum weighs only 34½ #s. Business growing splendidly, shipped 46 pianos in the 5 working days of lastweek At 2.30 P.M. trip in the twin screw “Gemini” with all the children, Mr. +Mrs. L.v.B. +Rud. v. Bernuth around Blackwells Island, look the Caissons of N.Y. +Lg Isl. Bridge at foot of Harsell street LgIsl. City, and on both sides of Blackwells Island. We then run past Port Morris |
