New York, April 11th 1873.

April 11th friday.

Splendid warm Springday. Spend eve'g with Albert at Kreischers, play Muggins with Albert & Riekchen

April 12th sat.

Terrible gale & snowstorm, the latter prevailing nearly all day. See Steck at Runkels, who tells me that Nembach is still very sick, spend eve'g at Cassebeer

April 13th Sund.

Walk up town with Henry & Ch. St. after assorting my music. With Albert to 71st str. & 4th viewing lots, offered by Markstein. Eat Easter lamb at Zieglers, (from our farm) at 4 P.M. Old Cassebeer with us. Home in eveg.

April 14th Monday.

Chafing under my truss seems to have healed perfectly through Dr. Lellmanns Salve, telegraph to Poehlmann in Nurnberg Germany "Keine Saiten absenden, Brief abwarten" Our factory closed for this Eastermonday, Supper at Zieglers, play domino all the evening.

April 15 Tuesday.

Fine Springday, am at Major Knapp & look at Sketch of Square & Upright together, dine at Schedlers, with F. Steins take boat 1.15, Albert and the new Engineer meet at 8th street, look at our Yacht, drive to farm, splendid weather, Steam Shovel has advanced about 80 feet south of Hellgate Road. I meet Karker and lay out the Houses for him on 11th Ave, return with Steins by Harlem boat, reach Store at 6 P.M. Have been waiting for Cable despatch all day announcing arrival of Weser at Southampton At L.K. in eveg, preside.

April 16th Wed.

Herald announces that Steamer Weser arrived at Southampton yesterday, much to my joy. Mr. Jas. H. Barney from Providence, have a long talk with him propose basis of settlement. Am uptown in eveg taking supper at Zieglers, spending eveg there with Albert, great panic in Wall street
