Beautiful day, & but 70 degrees. To town via L. Road. Find that our Yellow Pine timber has also arrived in front of our dock. Play 66 with C. St. & Schmidt, I win but no payment is made in eveg, having gone to Astoria via 23d boat | |

Aug. 30th sat. |
Lovely day. To town via L. Road. Steinert in town, his business very good. Business has been very good during last week. Lunch with Ch & Fr. St. & Henry; Z. at U. Sq. Hotel. At 4 P.M. to Astoria via 23d street. Play Skat with H. & C. St. & Henry A. Cassebeer, after holding a council what to do about Kroeger who called on me this afternoon. | |

Lovely day. In morning fix Encyclopedia account, look over new building, at 11 A.M. take splendid swimbath, Fr. Steins & his two boys, also Papa Cassebeer & wife there, who in eve'g take Helene with them. I send the whole party by carriage; to the Ferry;. At Luthers in evg | |

Very hot again, to Tafelrunde lunch with Ottendorfer, to Astoria at 4 PM Play Skat in eve'g with C St & H. A. Cassebeer win 44 Cents. Luther visits us. | |

Very close & warm. Lunch with Blasius & C. St. at U. Sq. Hotel. Make agreement with Conover Bros of St. Louis With Blasius to L.K. preside, sing, home at 11½ P.M. Blasius stays over night | |
