New York, March 8/84

Mar 8 Sat.

Wet gloomy day. Cable to Steinway Hamburg Stop London Shipments Maxwell here trouble say nothing await letter, Steinway. T. W. Stevens from Albany here in forenoon. In afternoon Flushing Ave. Com. Meeting at my office discussing new bill for paving Flush. Ave. Cotterill attends. In eve'g splendid calico party at my house. All adults of our family, except Lizzie Cassebeer present. Theo. makes speech, Reynolds declamations break up after 3 A.M. all highly pleased.

Mar 9th Sunday.

Slept little. At store by 9½ A.M. Session with Maxwell who proposes to restore to us original capital of £5000. in pianos, on separation work all afternoon, when Maxwell comes in again At 5 P.M. to Zieglers, with Theodore through factory See magnificent Upr. G. (new style M.) with full frame and bent rim. It has a glorious tone. In evening four Nephews and Theo. with me at Zieglers, discuss Maxwells latest Idea and decide to accept same. Baby Theodore weighs 17 Pounds

Mar. 10. Monday.

Tretbar buys powerful magnifying glass with which we examine paper E. To my astonishment Maxwell comes in and declares himself ready to proceed under the old regime. In eve'g am again at the store, wife George & Paula to Metr. Opera house, to see "Hamlet" I also invited Cotterill and wife. baby Theodores right hand is gradually getting better Spend all the evening with Maxwell and finally go to Thies with him. Meet Liebe of London, brother of Therese Liebe the violinist
