New York, April 18th 1886.

  

German Puck, which I conduct. Lovely weather. Concert in Ev'g, Hermans "Seufzerbrücke" given, Lili Lehmann, Emily Winant, Ovide Musin, Male Chorus very fine, sit with Mr + Mrs. Chas. H. Van Brunt at table home nearly 2 A.M. take Hel Cassebeer home.

April 19th Monday.

Excessively busy all day. At Bk Metr. afternoon. Phil Burkard became Notary Public for Queens County sat. certificate filed in N.Y. County. Home in ev'g working, Third Avenue strike continues, blood shed

April 20th Tuesd.

Write Campbell answer for L. Isl. City Star At L.K. in ev'g, Seminary Meeting, preside at Meeting

April 21st Wed.

Lovely day. We gradually rent and sell the new houses on Ditmars Avenue, Astoria a brisk demand for which seems to have set in

April 22d Thursd.

Lovely warm day. Lilli Lehmann + Niece spent evg with us last eve'g. I at Concert of Mrs. Peters, 10 pianos, 30 performers, lunch at Ottendorfers with Lili Lehmann, her Niece, Miß Emily Suydam and other ladies, verypleasant affair Third Ave. R.R. seems to be able to hold out against the strikers. Quartett at my house in ev'g, am in good voice, Rummel also there

April 23d friday.

This day 25 years ago I was married in Buffalo to my first wife. Volkszeitung states that piano makers last night resolved to work but Eight hours daily from May 1st, leaving it somewhat uncertain whether wageworkers by the week are to work at reduced prices or not. In ev'g at L.K. party to the ladies Chorus I preside, it turns out to be a very nice affair. At noon Lillie Lehman called, and kissed me on taking leave
