New York, Oct 11th 1877

  

4 P.M. Mr. Walltears & Leland, Appraisers call we make all ready for Albert Steinway appraisement of personal estate

Oct 12th friday.

At 10½ A.M. to Cotterills Office, consult him on Carl Wilhelms case, I then go to C. W. find his condition far worse than I thought, debts $11.000, assets $3200, I call on Burke with him take papers from him and go with Wilhelms to Cotterills Office, we three go to Astor House, dine, and talk over matters, I then leave them, go to Kreischers, look at the propellor she is very staunch. Home in eve'g writing til late letters to R.R. Tretbar and Louise Deppermann

Dillenbeck brings me bill of sale C. Wilhelms as collateral security

Oct 13th sat.

Beautiful day, Excessively busy at 11½ A.M. with Theodor down town, he to Van Santvoord, I to Hall of Records Ely-Women's College deed & Mortgage, defective attestation clause, I leave it with Blauvelt for correction. Then to Bridge meeting, vote & elect 13 directors, then to Max Schedlers meet Theo. there again, we eat walk to Fulton Ferry & with 225 P.M. boat to Astoria, Lewis just commencing to lay Sewerpipe in Winthrop Avenue Contract with C. F. Koch to build new drying Room on top of Boiler extension, also instruct Brodie to make estimate for putting Water & W. C. into our ten houses on Albert str & Steinway Ave. & connect with Sewer, also Carver Shop. Go back all the way in the Cars, eat Supper with Louisa remain with Theodor til after 10 P.M. feel a little stiff take a warm bath home
