Bern Schwartz was Chairman of the Board of Steinway & Sons dealer Sherman Clay & Co, founded in 1870. The two companies have been closely associated for nearly 120 years. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, Steinway sent a shipment of pianos to Sherman Clay to help the company get reestablished.
